Alhamdulillah, we had a very productive term with many memorable moments, some of which are included in this newsletter for your information.  The College is moving towards a new direction with a stronger focus on academic progress, Islamic education and high standards of discipline. Several initiatives have been introduced to address the diverse needs of students. These initiatives will Insha-Allah generate high standards of academic achievements  as well as  maintain  excellent standards of  discipline.

Term One highlights include the official opening ceremony of the BER Multi-purpose Hall, the Primary and Secondary Award Presentations, L.I.C Kitchen Rules Cook-Off Competition and  ‘Camp Fantastic’ which was thoroughly enjoyed by the 75 students and staff that attended.

In addition to  the changes taking place this year, major renovations were undertaken over the December/January holidays. The College grounds are continuously being improved to provide a pleasant  learning  environment. The car park  has been upgraded with 60 parking bays allocated for parents. Construction of classrooms to cater for the increase in student enrolments  will  also commence  soon, Insha-Allah.

The College is blessed with a dynamic and dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff that I have the pleasure of working with.  I would like to thank all my colleagues for their patience, cooperative spirit and terrific teamwork. I am confident that with such a great team of talented, committed and caring teaching and non-teaching staff,  students at Langford Islamic College will succeed in this life and in the hereafter,  Insha-Allah.  I would  also like to take this opportunity to convey my sincere appreciation to all our parents, guardians and to our Parents and Friends Committee for their commitment to this College and ongoing support.

Jazaak-Allahu Khairan.

Online Safety is Our Concern

posted Mar 3, 2011, 6:47 AM by System Administrator

The Internet has became indispensable for everyone including Muslims. We have developed a strong appetite for Technology and especially now with more than 97% of 16 - 17 years olds accessing social networking sites and children aged 8-9 years doing the same we as Muslim Parents need to ramp up our knowledge of the Internet and Technologies around us.

As technologies proliferate more content become available and this includes those that are deemed haram. It has gone beyond the traditional desktop computers and migrated to the ubiquitous mobile phone. Statistically, in the past 5 years the number of 8 -18 year olds with their own mobile phones has grown from 39% to 66%. That is for every 3 children, 2 owns a mobile.

What they do on the mobile is a great concern to us. 48% of 8 -18 year olds never turn of their phones and 41% of them say they get stressed when they turn it off. One in very 2 children aged between 8 -18 years textes 826 messages per day! Now we begin to wonder what goes o n with their conversations. What do they talk about when they visit social networking sites.

Being parents are we aware that our children may be involved with harmful activities when they are online. Chatting and texting creates a situation when two parties are engaged virtually in intimate conversation and  this can range from anything to the lurid.

If being concern is an issue with you, speak to us and we can assist your family to benefit the Internet in a safe and rewarding way.

Alhamdullillah Ramadhan has descended bringing barakah to everyone. The month sometimes known as Shahrul Quran or Tanzil-ul-Quran brings with it many benefits both physically and spiritually.

Let us bring our body, mind and spirit in prayer and reflection and seek forgiveness from the All Mighty Allah.

"Glorified is the Owner of the Kingdom of the earth and the heavens; Glorified is the Possessor of Honour and Magnificence and Awe, and Power and Greatness and Omnipotence; Glorified is the Sovereign, the Living, Who does neither sleep nor die
O all Glorious, All Holy One, Our lord and the Lord of the Angels, And the soul.
There is no God but You, Forgive us, Grant us Paradise, and save us from (hell) fire."
